Creating Success in Office

Creating Success in Office 26/07/10

Working 8+ hours a day could be fun on some days, but most of the time it is a drudge, isn't it? How to transform the office space with little imagination and no like for 'personal time off' into something that is quite enjoyable and friendly?

By Katie Rose, vocal coach and sound healer: Some tips from me on how to revitalise your office experience by experimenting creatively with any of the following suggestions

Symbolise your success

Imagine, visualise or decorate your space with symbols that are special to you to enhance your success at work – picture your desk in a circle of light or with a star beneath it. Symbols are protective and magnetise positive energy – there are many to choose from – the flower of life, ohms, stars, rainbows, reiki symbols – whatever resonates with you.

Infuse your space with love

If your colleagues are open to it, you can really transform everyone’s working experience by burning aromatherapy oils in a burner – lavendar for relaxation, rose for softening a harsh environment, citrus oils like orange, bergamot and geranium to boost peoples spirits and more masculine scents like sandalwood and basil to enhance organisation, grounding and structure. If you cant use a burner, dab the appropriate oil for you on your wrists and temples at the beginning of the day or make up a refreshing spray with a few drops of oil in water to use as a body mist at break times.

Shake yourself free in the breaks

A good shake and stretch at break times will help you reduce the possibility of RSI and back problems from sitting for long periods. It will also shake the toxins that tend to deposit in your thighs and hips. Remember to roll your neck, shrug your shoulders, tug your arms and give your back a little love rub at regular intervals during the day. Encourage your company to have a regular visits from an on-site masseur or yoga class to look after everyone. If you’re all getting a bit tense why not have a dance around the office at the end of the day to uplifting tunes to let of steam!

Express yourself

You are not a machine, you are a creative living being so be mindful of this and hold boundaries – make your lunch breaks meaningful by going to the park, don’t give into pressure to do unpaid overtime, speak up about issues – your bravery will encourage others to speak up for themselves too. Making your office a creative magical and supportive space will benefit everyone!
